As the source of so much history, Mexico City’s architectural style throughout the mid-20th century tells a story. Colección Estudio x Difane translate it through their collaborative Basurto Stool Collection. Difane, co-founded by Andrea Gadsden and Fernanda Salamanca, is a gallery representing emerging and established Mexican designers and creatives. The gallery partnered with the founders of Colección Estudio, Andrés Cacho, Daniel Martínez, and Manuel López, known for their intricately detailed yet simple designs.
The two parties describe each piece that makes up the Basurto Stool Collection as being “a miniature abstraction of the buildings from that period,” created from the lines, symmetry, volumes, and shapes of the city. The completed stools embody Mexican cultural elements in their essence, while also hoping to make an impact on the global design scene.
